While skimming through my Twitter feeds this morning, I saw a post by Global Fastener News. I was sucked in by the headline so I clicked on the topic which showed a listing of all the fastener industry trade shows for 2015. They do a good job of posting this kind of information. Along with the list was a quick description of some of the larger shows including the Vegas show.
They also mentioned the Fastener Fair Stuttgart which is note to be the world’s largest fastener trade show. But, the thing that caught my attention was this:
“This year the National Fastener Distributors Association of the U.S. has reserved a hotel in Stuttgart and arranged a tour for members of the Würth Group headquarters. “
I’d like to see the Würth Group headquarters. I think that sounds like a very unique opportunity and I’ve got to tip my hat to the NFDA for setting that up. I’m pretty certain Würth is an active NFDA member which probably is why this tour is being made available to other NFDA members. I realize this is not a trip every inside sales person or expeditor will be invited to make, nor will people necessarily book a trip just to make this tour. But, plenty of U.S. based fastener companies travel to that show already and this is a very nice tie in for anyone who already will be over there. I give credit to the NFDA for thinking creatively and offering a tour that might not be available to individuals not associated with the group. It appears to be a good use of resources that are available to them through one of their members. This is something that all national and regional fastener associations should strive to do – utilize the resources available to them through their membership partners. You never know who knows who!
