Has anyone out there used the services of www.fiverr.com? I recently heard about it and have checked out the site briefly. I have not hired anyone to do anything yet. But, there are loads of people willing and capable of doing a lot of different services for $5. Yep, $5.
There are people who claim they can do deep internet searches for you on any topic. I’m tempted to forgo a morning coffee at the local coffee joint and hire someone to do a search just to see what comes back. Maybe, a search of all fastener distributors in a certain geographic location? That search is not a terribly difficult one to do but maybe they’ll know more search engines than I do. The different services include graphic designs, voice over work, musical composition and all kinds of random talents.
Let me know if anyone out there has ever used this. I know one college administrator that uses them to collect data pertinent to their recruitment needs. For about $40/month they get a ton of information and do not tie up their own personnel. Just one example I know of, I’m sure you can find others on the site.
I’m a buyer and a seller on Fiverr. I mostly use it for Twitter gigs (buying and selling). As far as buying, I can do many of the jobs on Fiverr myself, but I don’t think it’s worth my time to only get paid $5 for them. I typically make $7-12 per tweet from major consumer brands. Anything that takes more than 140 characters worth of time is not worth $5 for me to perform the work, but there are some pretty good sellers out there that I know personally whose services I would recommend to others (maybe not relative to the fastener industry)…
Thanks for the input from the real Fiverr world. Our industry is sometimes a bit “old school”, even old fashioned so it’s good to explore what is out there sometimes. Welcome.
There are some very good people there. However, there’s nothing you can really buy for $5. I usually spend a minimum of a hundred to two hundred fifty dollars for the very talented people. These freelancers are extremely good. But you must choose the right ones.
We have used a few contractors on Fiverr. We used them around new years day and had a drawing made of our team members into Simpsons characters. I would suggest caution though. I have had a bad experience with them. When choosing contractors, make sure you choose one with plenty of recommendations and a short que. Otherwise, you might get one that gets a bunch of orders in the que, then does sloppy work, gets paid, and shuts down. I would also, not recommend using them for SEO, or giving login information to your site. Other than that, this is a great site with a lot of creative people that will work for very little.
I’ve used fiverr.com for years, mostly for graphic design work. Love it.
Your company is different from a fastener manufacturer or fastener distributor. I’m not surprised you know this site and most likely many more like it or at least useful for marketing, etc. How many fastener companies do you think are plugged in to sites like fiverr?
I have a friend that helped me with my website. He suggested I can use fiverr to update webpage blogs and also link articles about the fastener industry to the site to keep our customers informed about what is going on in the industry. I didn’t think to use it as a search engine supplement. Good idea I might give that a try.
