Periodically, I check out websites from the fastener industry as well as others I stumble upon from things I read or Twitter or wherever. I’d like to point out a couple of fastener industry sites I found interesting. First, the website created by the ladies at Hudson Fasteners has got to be one of the easiest sites to navigate if you are someone looking for fasteners. Hudson has rebranded its name to “1 Industrial Way” and you can use either name to search for their site. Go to www.hudsonfasteners.com and just point at any of the fastener products pictured and it will automatically lead you to a menu of the various available types of fasteners that fall under that category. So, you click on bolts, it brings you to a menu for approximately 20 different types of bolts. Click on a picture of a specific kind of bolt (e.g., B-7 Bolt) and it transfers you to available sizes by diameter and length. Click on the size and get your price. Very simple. Then, you check out and you are done. Hudson Fastener is very active and connected on social media. I think this recipe will serve them well as they drive users to their easy to use website.
Another site worth a look is www.fastenerinsiders.com. The site is geared towards the unsung heroes of the fastener industry, the inside sales people. Those are the people we all talk to on a daily basis and often learn about their hobbies, families and many other things that come from talking to someone week after week after week. As the site states, “this group does the ‘heavy lifting’ yet is not always recognized”. So, what does this site offer to the inside salesperson? There are many convenient trade tools available on this site including charts of decimal/fractional equivalents, a diameter pitch chart, imperial and metric drill charts, etc. Additionally, there are links to several topics that would be valuable to inside salespeople including “Data Driven Prospecting”, “Inside Sales Tips” and “LinkeIn Sales Tips” among others. Again, jump online and search around their site a bit and if you like you can sign up to be a Fastener Insider right from their site. So, those are just a few sites that have caught my attention recently. I kind of enjoy Tim Ferriss’ “4-Hour Work Week” site but maybe I’ll save that for another day.
