Activity Increasing?

Seems like the past 3 or 4 weeks have been more active.  I have been hearing more and more people tell me that.  Anyone else finding that to be the case?

    Hi TS,
here in France, one of my partner in automotive business, did -9% in may and june should be about the same, after some - 30 to -40% for several months.
Therefore it is a real improvement.
Another significant one, in industry, is around -10/-15% for 3 months now.
    A sign of hope !

Thanks for that update from France.  Here too, I have had people telling me that they have had September deliveries moved up to June and a few other signs of hope.  It will be interesting to observe what happens in July because it is an historically slow month.  But I have had many companies tell me they are having good sales in June so, like you say, it might be a sign of hope.

Daniel, I know you have some websites and projects related to the fastener industry that you are working on.  Please feel free to send that information to me or just post it so that others can hear about it.

        Thanks a lot T.S. !
I will certainly propose a post within a few weeks. I will need some sharp users of the business to validate the last choices
It is already UNIQUE in the way to sort out the informations from professionnal webpages.
Readers on this blog, work on improvement of your webpages and on the ranking of your keyword.
It will be easier to be on first page of my searchengine than on google, but still, the quality of the website is first priority !

And I am very glad to read all the informations of Mike about the new version of AFJ (which was not so easy to index by search engine robots so far ) and all coming ezines.
Apart of FIN, actually the only ezine I receive is the one of Globalspec for fastening, joining & assembly.
In Europe, it is terribly missing an active website for hot news as I stated earlier.

I am right now in Taiwan, and I spoke with some members of TFTA (Taiwan fastener trader associations) and the situation is very slowly recovering, rather like -30% only. And nothing very stable..
And no real "European antidumping effect" so far.
I will be in China next week and will learn more.

        keep in touch Daniel

    TS,

We are hearing more and more positive comments, but one must still be aware of what can happen if a turn around comes quicker than planned. Shortages, inflation, delayed delievers, lack of financing from out wonderful banking system...all causing new problems many fastener distributors and manufacturers haven't gone through.

On personal side, our business is very busy at the moment. The Las Vegas Fastener Show continues to grow and there is strong interest in the Columbus Fastener Show next May 2010. The American Fastener Journal "Summer Issue" is on press. The first of the three NEW Electronic Magazines (E-Zines)on Aerospace Fasteners from AFJ will be introduced in a few weeks. They will be followed by Construction Fasteners and than Electronic Fasteners. Our NEW American Fastener Journal website that has been greatly up-dated and speeded up will be up by the end of June. FASTENER NEWS NOW will be expanded in services and content. The fastener sourcing website www.usfastenersources.com continues to get companies to send in their product line cards on a weekly basis. Work is always on going to update and expand the leading fastener Buyer's Guide The American Fastener Source for 2010. So all in all we are busy in the "information side" of the fastener business.

As I stated in an ad in the March/April issue "Fastener suppliers that injudiciously slash advertising funds often find that they later must SPEND FAR MORE THAN THEY SAVED in order to recover from their prolonged absence in the marketplace." We listened to our own advertising in 2009 so far and have grown.

Good Luck and Continued Success to all!
